Complete privacy policy and collection statement

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and other persons with whom we deal. This statement demonstrates that commitment by disclosing the ways in which we handle any information of a personal nature about you, which we may have. It outlines our Privacy Policy in accordance with the National Privacy Principles established in the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, which amends the Privacy Act 1988.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information or opinion (whether true or not) about you. It may range from the very sensitive (e.g. medical history or condition) to the every-day (e.g. address and phone number). The personal information we collect and hold may include:

Job applicants

As a job applicant, personal information may be collected from you in a number of different ways. We will collect personal information from you directly when you apply to us for registration as a candidate. We may also collect information when we receive:

  • Results of inquiries that we might make of your former employers, work colleagues, professional associations or registration body
  • The results of any competency or medical test
  • Performance feedback (whether positive or negative)
  • Any complaint from or about you in the workplace
  • Any information about a workplace accident in which you are involved
  • Any information about any insurance investigation, litigation, registration or professional disciplinary matter, criminal matter, inquest or inquiry in which you are involved
  • From others any additional information about you
  • Financial information such as bank account details
  • As a job applicant, your information will be used primarily in connection with your actual or possible work placement, including:
  • Our assessment of your ongoing performance and prospects
  • Any test or assessment (including medical tests and assessments) that you might be required to undergo
  • Our identification of your training needs
  • Any workplace rehabilitation
  • Our management of any complaints, investigation or inquiry in which you are involved
  • Any insurance claim or proposal that requires disclosure of your personal information.

It is important that the information job applicants provide is accurate, complete and up-to-date. Therefore if over time there are adjustments to your information to be made, we recommend you contact us.

Job applicant authorisation to use your information

Job applicants are required to read the following statements carefully and indicate their understanding and acceptance by signing a copy:

  1. I certify that all information provided by me in connection with my application, whether on this document or not, is true and complete, and I understand that any misstatement, falsification, or omission of information shall be grounds for refusal to hire or, if hired, termination.
  2. I have read and understood your privacy policy and collection statement.
  3. I understand that some prospective employers will check with the Queensland Police Department for any criminal history, in accordance with applicable legislation.
  4. I understand Recruitment Advantage may investigate candidates for employment. I authorise Recruitment Advantage to conduct reference checks and employment checks.

Use and disclosure of your personal information

Your personal information may be used by us in:

  • Providing the products or services that you have requested from us
  • Administering and managing those services including charging, billing and collecting debts
  • Conducting appropriate checks for credit-worthiness where you have applied for credit

  • Enabling our related entities to assist you with related services as required
  • Researching, developing and enhancing our services
  • Marketing our services to you by way of promotional and educational material, invitations to functions and seminars, and our various newsletters

  • Any person with a lawful entitlement to obtain the information.

For job applicants, we will always seek your permission before we disclose personal information.

Please note that we do not sell or give its client databases or mailing lists to any third parties.

What if you do not give us the information we seek?

If you provide us with incomplete or inaccurate information, we may not be able to provide you with the products or services you are seeking.

Changes and access to your personal information

We are committed to keeping our records up-to-date and we encourage you to tell us when your details (such as your telephone number, address or name) change.

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you if you wish to do so. Your right to see and have a copy of personal information about you that we hold is subject to some exceptions, which are set out in the National Privacy Principles (Principle 6 – Access and Correction). If we are unable to provide you with access, we will explain why. We also reserve our rights to charge a fee for searching for and providing access to your information.

If we are unable to agree that the personal information that we hold about you is accurate, complete and up-to-date, you may ask us to place a statement written by us in your file that claims the particular information is not accurate, complete and up-to-date.

Use of our website and email system

In addition to the above provisions, the following additional provisions apply to your use of our website.

Automatic collection of your personal information

When you visit our website, our Internet Service Provider automatically records the following information for statistical purposes:

  • Date and time of your visit to our website

This information does not identify an individual but it does provide us with statistics that can be used to analyse and improve our web site and services.

Emails

We encourage the use of email communication to increase efficiency in communications. Emails sent to or by us are routinely monitored by our information technology staff for systems administration, quality control and compliance purposes.

We will only record your email address if you send an email to us. Email enquiries will be passed to the most appropriate staff member, who will be asked to respond to you directly.

Online subscriptions

If you wish to subscribe to any online information service which we may offer on our website from time to time, you will need to supply us with the following personal information:-

  • Occupation and industry
  • Areas of interest.

We will use this data to send information and publications to you via email. If you are included on a group email mailing list for this purpose, we will send you the information in such a way that your email address will not be visible to other mail-out recipients.

If you have previously asked to be added to our mailing list and have since changed your mind, or if you have received an email mail-out from us that you do not wish to receive in future, please send an email stating your wishes to info@advconsulting.com.au and we will remove you from our mailing list. Security of your personal information

We are committed to protecting your personal information from misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, and will take reasonable steps to do so.

Disposal and destruction of your personal information

If we no longer need or are no longer required to hold your personal information, we may destroy or permanently de-identify that information, without further notice to you.

From time to time, it may become necessary for us to review or amend this policy. Any changes will be made as and when required, and we will advise you of any changes by posting an updated version of our policy on this website, www.advconsulting.com.au.
