Outplacement is a well-established business practice that allows the employer to restructure the work force and reduce costs – while providing support for departing employees.
In practical terms, outplacement programs are individual coaching and counselling programs for employees who lose their jobs as a result of company restructuring.
These programs focus on assisting people who have or who are about to depart the organisation, to adjust quickly to their circumstances, and move as quickly as possible into an effective job search.
The program does this by developing within the individual career direction and job search skills.
With our approach, participants are more likely to take personal responsibility for the management of their career transition, and are less likely to harbour negative attitudes towards the employer organisation.
There are often other support processes associated with outplacement – these include management advice prior to the termination of staff, to ensure that the redundancies are handled properly and sensitively; and programs for remaining staff, to ensure that ongoing productivity is not affected.
